FORT PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The City of Fort Pierre is changing the way it will be conducting this year’s spring cleanup. In the past, Fort Pierre has set aside a time where residents are allowed to put certain unwanted items curbside and city workers would pick them up for disposal. This year, Mayor Sam Tidball says since city crews are busy with flood cleanup and repairs; a different procedure will be used. He says Fort Pierre residents will find a stub at the bottom of their May utility bill that will allow them to dump the items at the Pierre Solid Waste Facility.
Tidball says the bills with the special trash stub will come in the mail after May 1. As for flood recovery in town; Tidball says the city is making some headway.
Tidball says Fischers-Lilly Park has also been the focus of a concerted effort to get the grounds ready for warm weather months.
Tidball advises boaters that both boat ramps in town-near Bad River and at the end of Fifth Avenue-are also ready to go.
