PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Tonight is the Pierre Fire Department’s “Retirees Dinner”. The event is held once a year to give current firefighters a chance to get together with former firefighters. Deputy Fire Chief Ian Paul says all retired Pierre firefighters are invited to attend and he estimates that on average; each year’s dinner draws about 40 people who have volunteered with the department over the years. He says the retired members that come to the dinners share some memories with fellow former firefighters-and current firefighters, as well. The Retirees Dinner starts tonight at six o’clock and will include brats and beverages. It will be held at the American Legion Cabin in Pierre.
