PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Construction crews will begin next week to reshape and resurface the hiking and biking trails at Farm Island Recreation Area east of Pierre. The trails were ruined during last year’s Missouri River flooding and work to repair the trail system is expected to start Monday. The trails will be closed during the project-which will take about a month. People using the causeway road and fishing pier at Farm Island will still have room to turn their vehicles around in the parking area near the trail system, but half the parking area will be used for equipment. For more information, contact the Farm Island Recreation Area at 773-2885.
