PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The date for the annual citywide clean up in Pierre has been moved because of today’s rain and the resulting muddy conditions. The event was planned for tomorrow, but has been changed to Saturday, May 5. Those that want to volunteer should meet on the 5th at Hillsview Clubhouse at 8:15 a.m. Volunteers are being encouraged to bring shovels and rakes. They will then be directed to certain public areas around town to help clean up the city parks and lands. For further details on the city cleanup, contact Tom Farnsworth at 773-2527.
Also, a tree planting effort that was to take place in parts of southeast Pierre and at the golf course today and tomorrow has also been moved-to Tuesday, May 1. Those that want to help plant trees to replace those that were impacted by last year’s floodwaters can assist by meeting next Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Park Shop on Sully Avenue and at Hillsview Clubhouse. For more information on the tree planting effort, contact Larry Weiss at 222-4339.
