PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Police Department is asking local citizens to get rid of sand bags and dirt piles that were used last year in fighting the flood. Community Resource Officer Brandon Boyd says the city does have an ordinance regarding piles of sand and other debris. He says leaving the sand and dirt will encourage the growing and reseeding of weeds. He also encourages residents who have neighbors who may need some assistance clearing their property of sandbags and debris to offer assistance if they can. Those that have questions on the sandbag and flood debris cleanup effort can contact Officer Boyd at 773-7413.
