PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Once again, the Pierre Police Department is taking part in another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event is planned for Saturday, April 28 and will take place at Pierre City Hall. The program is organized nationwide by the Drug Enforcement Administration and has disposed of nearly 500 tons of medication at more than 5,300 sites across the country. The DEA set up the program to prevent old medicine from falling into unauthorized hands and to keep it from polluting water supplies after it is thrown away. Captain Elton Blemaster says people can bring in expired or unused prescription medications and drop it off with no questions asked. Drug Take Back Day will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the 28th at City Hall.
