PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) Starting next week, Avera Medical Group Pierre is going to offer more urgent care hours at the current clinic location. Clinic Administrator Karl Richards says starting Monday, the urgent care services will be expanded from Saturday morning only to Monday through Saturday. Weekdays, people can seek attention for issues like sore throat, back stomach or shoulder pain or infections from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The clinic will also continue with its current Saturday urgent care hours from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Richards says that means patients can walk in to have certain urgent medical issues cared for during evening hours-weekdays and on Saturday mornings.
Richards says Avera’s mission is to offer quality healthcare to the Pierre/Fort Pierre area and the popularity of the Saturday morning urgent care clinic resulted in the decision to add hours to urgent care services.
Richards says patients that have normal doctor appointments or need routine exams should continue to utilize the 8-5 Monday through Friday clinic hours.
Richards notes that those that have issues like shortness of breath, severe cuts or lacerations, head trauma or pregnancy complications or other major ailments should seek treatment at the emergency room. Avera Medical Group Pierre is located just west of St. Mary’s Healthcare Center.
