PIERRE, S.D. – (DRG News) The Pierre Police Department is looking for a motorcycle and its driver-after authorities were involved in a short chase with the motorcyclist yesterday. Pierre Police Captain Elton Blemaster says an officer was in the area of 5th Street and Huron Avenue last night around 7:15 p.m. when he reportedly saw a green and white “dirt bike” style motorcycle drive by him and do a “wheelie”. The cycle then took off at a high rate of speed. Blemaster says the officer gave a description of the motorcycle to other law enforcers and the bike was located a short time later near 4th Street in the Hilger’s Gulch area. The cycle went off road near Saunders Drive and traveled to the vicinity of Callaway Court. Authorities pursued the motorcycle for a short time with speeds reaching up to 40 miles per hour. The pursuit was terminated after the motorcycle was last seen going off-road by the construction area near the 4th Street addition. Officers from the Pierre Police Department, Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Game, Fish and Parks Department searched for the motorcycle and did not locate it. The incident remains under investigation. If anyone has information, they can contact the Police Department at 773-7410.
