Brookings still in official talks with NAHL

BROOKINGS, S.D. (Rod Fisher, Dakota Radio Group) – Brookings city and youth hockey officials are still talking with the North American Hockey league and a potential ownership group about a junior hockey team starting play in the town next season.  And Brookings city manager Jeff Weldon says that iscussions between the franchise and Brookings youth hockey representatives are expected to continue this week.  Weldon says that he has been in talks with the Larson Ice Center for use of the facility and with the Brookings youth hockey program which is the primary user of the facility.  The NAHL season begins in September with the regular season running through the end of March. A team in Brookings would be the second NAHL franchise in the state.  The other is in   Aberdeen.
