Rapid City Central Cross Country Coach to step down

RAPID CITY, S.D. (Dakota Radio Group)  Rapid City Central Cross Country head coach Loren Kambestad is resigning from the position.  Kambestad steps aside after a successful sixth season. Central senior Tony Smoragiewicz won his second consecutive Class AA state title last fall, and the Cobbler girls finished second as a team.  The 59 year old Kambestad has coached since 1975 with stops at Britton, Gettysburg, Lead and Rapid City Stevens and spent many years coaching cross country at the middle-school level in Rapid City.
