Gov and Lady Gov Track host Dakota Clash Track and Field Meet

PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota Radio Group)  Freshman sprinter Kelsey Schmitz was the only Pierre Lady Governor track and field athlete that cross the finish line first yesterday in the Dakota Clash Track and Field meet hosted by Pierre.  Schmitz won the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.99.  The Lady Govs had a number of place winners in the 5 team meet that featured Bismarck and Bismark Century from North Dakota, Rapid City Central and Sturgis along with Pierre.  Eileen Leong finished second in the 400 meter dash for the Lady Govs.  Rachel Propst was second in the 3200 meter run.  The Lady Governor 4×800 meter relay team finished second for the Lady Govs.   The Pierre Governor Track and Field team had only two first place finishers yesterday as they host the Dakota Clash Track and Field meet at Hollister Field.  Austin Lemieux cleared 12-06 to win the Pole Vault and Joe Snyder won the Triple Jump for a third consecutive meet as he had a jump of 41-05.5.  Kyle Anderson had a second place finish in the Discus.  Lane Severyn finsihed second in the 110 meter hurdles.  Conner Berg finished 3rd in the High Jump and Steven Gordon had a third place finish in the 1600 meter run for the Govs top finishes on the day.  The Governors and Lady Govs return to action tomorrow when they travel to Huron to compete in the Huron Invitational.
